I just took a practice test from barrons and got 30/55 correct (that's 55% if you don't count deductions, less than 50% if you do). I did the practice multiple choice from the college board a while back and got 66% (didn't do it all at once- just whenever I could). I wnat at least a 4 (the idea of getting a 3 makes me feel shameful). Any last minute tups to do well on the Multiple choice?

also, my writing for timed essays is sub par. it's so unrefined that you get the impresison I am a very poor writier ( I just need a lot of time to brood and let moments of inspiration tocome). WOuld anyone like to share some writing tips with someone who clearly lacks them?

bump. come on, there's gotta be someone who wants to help me :-P

first of all, barron's is crap

the multiple choice on the college board course description is harder than the real exam to me. i took the 1999 exam and got 52/55. on the course description i got 5 wrong on one poem! so a 30/55 in barron's and 66% on the course description is not bad at all (my experience is that the course description is a bit tougher than the real thing)

for essays i don't think you really learn too many writing tips in one night, but try your best and plan!

thanks! my fears are slightly assuaged ( I THINK I used that word correctly).
I think all I can do now is read over some sample essays that recieved a high score and see what made them so good and try to emulate that. I think I need to read the MC passages mroe carefully. just kinda worried I'll run out of time if I do..

I just have no idea how to help you. On the essays, maybe put in a little time before you start writing just to put down a clear outline. If anything, make sure you quickly write two damn structured essays, touch on the lit devices(even if it's bare min) and pull 5-6's on those, and then pour your soul into the third and make it 8-9 level. I think if you do the math, that should put you in low 4 range?

My MC score is your score when I'm not concentrating. If you go slower, maybe it'll increase a bit. Personally, I tend to do better with poems/dialogue(dramatic) sections. I get through those quicker, and spend the rest of the time doing the prose questions. For some reason, it is always harder for me to grasp the central idea(s) of prose passages. Also, people keep telling me this(I think to console me), but Barrons tests are MUCH harder than the real thing. Who knows, both of us might breeze through the MC tomorrow. (Did you take practice test D in the Barrons? God. Was that last poem a BEAST or what?)

Anyway, good luck tomorrow! I think it's time for me to log off CC and study some Dostoevsky.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize you had a reply. I type too slow.

How's the lit graded?

(Mult choice raw score * 1.25) + (essay raw score * ~3)

Barrons has 108 as a 5. I bet 100 is reasonable for a 5, though.

Barrons is a joke. A 75 in Barrons could be a 5...who knows :(

thanks for the replies! I feel loved :-P

I took practice test A from Barron's. I kinda disagreed with a few of there answers and there is no way I would have seen some of their interpretations and analysis on my own.

yime to............ I have no idea how I can study for this. maybe I'll sleep :-P
