So for numba 3 on the lit frq's it says novel of "comparable literary merit"
what do they mean like that? Like obviously no harry potter, but would LOTR or something like ender's game qualify?

I’m not sure. My teacher said that you can make an argument from virtually anything, but I would stay away from LOTR. The example she used was The Giver: even though it’s usually considered a middle-school book, if you’re bound and determined to use it, you should preface it with something like “although many people would consiver The Giver to be a lower-level book, it has high literary merit because…” etc. I think you can probably make a case for anything, but I would try and stay within the more traditional definition of “literature.”

LOTR would not qualify. Examples of works of literary merit are: the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jane Eyre, any Shakespeare, Frankenstein, Antigone, etc. You get the pattern. BTW the test will give good suggestions of books, but you are allowed to choose your own book.

iite thanks.
