Ap Lit V. Lang

I don't understand the difference between these two. What do you need to do well on each of them?
Please help.

i may be wrong, as my kids did these a few years ago, but AP Lang, usually comes first and is more about grammar and writng. AP Lit is a lot of critical reading, not unlike the SAT I critcal reading section. see if collegeboard. com can help, check out AP study books, and ask your guidance counselor.

Okay. That's actually what I thought, but when I looked at sample questions, they looked so similar. The CritReading section of the SAT did look a lot like AP Lit, so I thought it would be good to take it now, but I guess I'll go with Lang.

Thanks. :]

always best to take an AP test close in time to when you took it in high school...you're welcome!

AP Lit also asks you to analyze a poem for one of your FRQs and AP Lang. doesn't have any poetry.

AP Lit requires you to read a lot of novels and poems and plays and look at plot, character development, and basically anything else about the literary work.

AP Lang requires you to analyze how the author achieves his or her purpose through the use of rhetorical and literary devices.
