How hard would you say AP Lit is to an honors English 11 class? I’m getting a solid A in the class and want to take lit next year.
There was this one book that we read, Heart of Darkness, that was insanely hard to read (old words, grammar, confusing sentence structure), and ended up getting a 77 on the final test which was curved.
Are the passages/books in AP Lit similar to Heart of Darkness?
AP English Literature analyzes English Literature - that is the point of the course. You analyze it using knowledge of figurative language, literary criticisms, etc. The books are different for each course - but yes, some of them are challenging. For example, I find Hamlet by Shakespeare to be challenging due to the Victorian English but you may be different.
Instead of asking CC, you should be asking other students at your school who are in AP Lit (especially if they were in Honors 11). They will know the teaching style and material for your teacher better than we do because all teachers are different.
