Has anyone taken AP Macro/Micro on FLVS and if so, which should I take first? How hard was it? Lastly, in your opinion is it doable as an extra class on the side? (I'm thinking about doing one 2nd semester as an extra AP for sophmore year.)

I don’t think the order you take them in matters. Friends of mine who have taken both Macro and Micro say that there isn’t much overlap between the two.

I’ve taken AP Micro on FLVS. The class itself wasn’t too hard (although it’s not a free A). Compared to other AP class I’ve taken, micro is harder than human geo, but easier than biology, chemistry, world history, and psychology. As a half-credit course, it doesn’t take a long time to complete either.

AP Macro and Micro would be great courses to take on the side for the reasons I stated above. Additionally, the AP exams aren’t that hard. I’d recommend the “5 Steps to a 5” review books.

Bump I need more advice please

I’m taking Micro now. Its definitely not a free A, but it’s manageable. Plus they also have “extra credit” too just incase you want to get a better grade. All it is is drawing a bunch of graphs and figuring out how to move/ shift them. It’s pretty easy, but some concepts are harder than others and everything may seem confusing at first, but it will all make sense in the end. @Calchong

@DoctorMD thank you very much! But one question, do you think I should do Macro or Micro first? my counselor and dad say macro but other people say micro?

I talked to one girl who took both classes and she said Macro was easier for her to grasp than Micro. Macro is large scaled while micro is small scaled. It really depends on your preference. I liked micro until i got halfway through module three. It’s sort of hard to visualize graphs when they don’t really give you any examples. It honestly really doesn’t matter which one you take first.
Basically,
Macro: Big pictures
Micro: focuses on small firms.

I took micro over the summer leading to 10th grade(this year) and it was a nice walk in the park for me. I spent roughly 1.5 hours doing assignments weekly and get 94.35. I am currently taking Macro in school and it is way easier than Micro. There are some overlapping concept such as Supply/Demand, PPC, and wages
