AP Macroeconomics and Microeconomics at the same time? Realistically for "Average" student?

I’ve been on this forum a while and have done tons of research, and its come to my attention that most of the people on here are VERY smart, well above average (based on high SAT scores and many AP courses). I am by no means putting myself down, and I am considered above average, however, I am by no means as intelligent as many users on here.

With that being said, realistically speaking from an “average” persons perspective, is it do-able to take AP Micro and Macro at the same time? I’m a senior taking English, Math, Gym and AP Stat in school (only half day [3 hours] due to medical condition), so the time I normally would normally be taking in-school courses and their homework, I will be putting towards online AP courses. I already signed up for AP Macro online, but I still have time to sign up for AP Micro if it is logical to do so.

Initially I was planning to take Macro in fall, and Micro in spring; however, due to a low GPA (despite the fact I got all A’s and a B or 2 my sophomore and junior year, due to freshman year being out for medical reasons its low), I need as many credits as I can possibly take, and AP courses bring it up significantly. Of course colleges will see I’m planning to take it the next semester, but I need it more so for the GPA boost.

I believe I have the time to balance all my courses out, and intend to spend my senior year working really hard and solidly focusing on school. But, I don’t want to take both and be very confused and end up doing poorly in one or both of them, and that is what I am asking for an opinion on. If anyone could give me an opinion on taking both from an above “average” but not ingenious students perspective it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I’d still recommend you follow this plan. Doing both in the fall will unlikely impact the college acceptance/denial decision.

I would take one each semester. That’s what my AP Econ class is doing (Macro in the fall, Micro in the spring) and I’m also considered “average” compared to the other users on here. Just keep working hard and do well in the classes you have right now; that will be what helps your GPA in the long run. I understand how much medical issues can impact school and grades, so don’t stress yourself out too much, especially your senior year. Taking both Econ classes together might be confusing, so doing one at a time would probably be most beneficial. Good luck. :)

I took both of these classes last year and scored 5s. Taking both at the same time will not confuse you. It may be hard to prep for the exams because you will not have done any economics for 5 months or so, but taking both at once is certainly feasible. If you feel it is necessary, go for it.
