AP Macroeconomics help

Hey guys,

Lately I've been struggling a lot with AP Macro. I got a 70% on my first test and now have a C in the class. The worst part is, homework doesn't count for a grade in that class. I have a really hard time understanding the graphs and concepts and may teacher is horrible. The tests are so hard that a third of the class failed it. What can I do to improve? Any suggestions from someone who took the class?

Thanks a lot

P.s.- I bought two prep books, Princeton Review and 5 steps to a 5 but don't know how to implement them with studying

Bump

Read the chapter on the topic BEFORE your teacher covers it in class. It’ll help a lot.
Here, this will save your grade for sure (unless you’ve already been using it, in which case, I’m out of ideas): <a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;
I know so many ppl who survived only because of this guy.

AP Macro was my favorite class ever, so I really hope you come to like it (or at least not hate it).

Thanks a lot. I’m bumping this for more Input.

I’m not really sure how I got through the class with an A last year. I despise economics with a passion. DigitalKing’s advice would not have worked for me because I hated the textbook. It was complicated and basically went along the lines of “this changes, so that changes, so the banks will foreclose, so the discount rate needs to be changed so your original thing changes again”.

I went through the whole semester not knowing anything, but got decent grades like some As and most Bs on tests based on being in class and raw intelligence alone. I think the thing that helped me the most was that the teacher would end each section with letting us work in a class set of Kaplans books. That book was great because it was very simple and gave good practice with clear explanation. Usually I prefer Barrons but it doesn’t help to have a review book that goes in depth when you don’t know the basics.

Even though I hated the class and felt like I didn’t know anything but the basic concepts, when the AP exam came around I used the Kaplan book and educator.com’s course to cram the night before and it prepped me big time. I went into the test feeling I could get a five and walked out knowing I got at least 55/60 on the MC section and 75% of the points on the FRQ section. This is just one week after I scored a ~37/60 on a practice test in class and with only one night of review. Those two resources took me from a 3 to a 5 for sure.

I think digitalking’s suggestion is a good one but I just wanted to throw out the use of a simple review book with MC and FRQ practice that might offer a much needed reprieve from an overly complicated textbook.

If you can afford it educator.com’s lecture videos are top notch and given by a person who graded the AP for 6 years.
