Hey, has anyone taken either of these courses, or know anything about them? I might want to take macro outside of school, since our school doesn't offer it, but I don't really know anything about the course. I have no background in economics... but I think it would be really interesting to learn :)

Don’t worry about having a background in economics, many high school students who take AP Econ don’t have any background in economics.

AP Macro was a blast for me, and I’ve heard good things about Micro too.

i took AP Micro last semester and got a B or so in it. We took a practice AP at the end of the semester and i got a 4 on it. No background experience needed.

I am taking Macro this semester and for some reason I find it a lot harder than Micro, although I hear that is not usually the case…

I teach myself it, outside of school, with just a textbook. Find a good textbook (I use the McConnell and Brue book because I had it, but you should probably use Gregory Mankiw’s INTRO book). And get a Princeton Review/Kaplan/etc AP Economics book or whatever.

I like it because I love economics in the news and history anyway, but you shouldn’t find it too hard, it’s mostly just simple 9th grade algebra and graphical analysis. Do it! But you won’t be able to learn it in time for this AP, in which case you might as well take it at a local university/community college over the summer (with Micro too) unless you have something else to do.

Mankiw’d book is fun, and I like the subject, especially the way my crazy Iranian professor teaches us.
