AP Math Credit

I'll be attending Berkeley in the fall as a freshman, hopefully for an Applied Mathematics major. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam, but I had a few questions -

According to: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/ap-credits/index.html, the score should get me 8/1.5 = 5.33 semester units. Is this correct?

On the other hand, the math department allows students to skip MATH 1A and 1B, which are 4 units each.

There's a disparity between the two, but would I only receive 5.33 credits for skipping 1A and 1B, although they are "worth" 8 credits total?

Finally, what happens if I start at Math 1B? Will I receive half of the 5.33 units for 1A, and 4 additional units for taking 1B, summing to 6.66 total units for MATH 1A and 1B?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, you only get 5.3 units, but you can use the AP calculus BC credit with a 5 to fulfill the subject requirement for Math 1A and 1B for the math major and go directly to Math 53 and/or 54 if you want (but see the department’s note about self-studying the introductory differential equations material from 1B if you do skip 1B).

Yes, the stated policy is that they will cancel AP credit if you take the course that covers the same material, so what you expect if you take Math 1B is a reasonable expectation.

So, how much credit is retained if a kid with AP Calculus BC (score=4 or 5) takes Math 1B?
Is it different than the amount of that credit that the kid would’ve retained had she instead taken the Calculus AB test (score = 4 or 5) and then taken Math 1B?

How many units (if any) does a kid with AP Chemistry (score = 3, 4, or 5) retain if she takes Chem 1A/1AL? Is it different if she takes AP Chemistry 4A/4AL?

Also, is it the same in L&S as it is in CoE and CoC?

There does not seem to be much explicitly stated other than general UC policy:
