Hi! I have the opportunity to take ap microeconomics or ap macroeconomics next semester and need info and advice on the two. I can only take one at a time and it’s for second sem. senior year. What are the differences between the two that are important as I chose which one? My school doesn’t have this as a normal class, so I don’t know anyone else who has or will take it. Is there one that most students normally take first? Any info on these two classes would be appreciated!
Macro focuses on the big picture. You learn about aggregate supply and demand, oscillation, business cycle, government role (fed) and foreign exchange. I have not taken Micro but I believe it focuses more on individual firms and business. I took just Macro and I did fine. It depends on what your interested in.
I find Micro to be more interesting.
@tigerman333 @bopper thanks for the input!
also wondering - so i have absolutely no background knowledge about econ…should i or would it be easier for me to take one before the other? is there a normal sequence for taking these two classes?
@bushdynasty In Macro, we covered the basics in the first unit. I don’t know about Micro since our school doesn’t offer it.
I think “easier” is relative and comes down to the individual person. I found macro easier and more interesting. In terms of which is the “normal” sequence, I don’t think there is one. My HS taught macro first, while my college teaches micro first.
