AP Micro?

I have a rather easy schedule this year and I was wondering if I should pick up AP Micro just for the hell of it?

Im not really going into business or economics or anything like that, but I don't think it would hurt. Also, is it easy or hard? Im solid in math so I dont think Ill have troubles, just is it a waste of my time or is it worth it?

It's not really a difficult subject (and the math will only help you in being very used to interpreting graphs), but it has one of the smallest curves of any AP subject, so it's no guaranteed 5. Some people say that you might need a teacher for some of the harder concepts (I didn't need one, though, so this varies). I recommend the econ exams: they're two of the most useful AP exams for people not majoring in the subject, in my opinion.

In case you're curious, out of 37,000 students that take it yearly, about 16% get a 5 (AP: Macroeconomics Grade Distribution)

how small is the curve?

i self studied it easily for a 5 when i took macro... its not hard at all compared to many AP classes

I think you have to have somewhere in the mid- or higher-80s %wise of the points to get a 5. Not sure, though.

It's really not that bad, though: it's not difficult to learn the material unlike some other exams. You just need to make sure you know it well (and there's not a ton of material to begin with).

So is it okay to just read a prep book to self-study for this test? Or should i read a textbook?

I recommend getting a textbook (neither of the prep books I glossed over (PR and Cliffs) were very good and I doubt I could have learned much out of them). I really like Mankiw's Principles of Economics, which is what my school uses.

Despite what you would think, there is very little necessary math. I didn't learn any equations and got a five.
