AP Music Aural Training Resource

Hello!

(Disclaimer: the moderators gave me the okay to post these videos, so long as they weren’t promoting a service; in that case, I’d just like to clarify that these are not in fact a service, as I don’t benefit monetarily, and this is just a resource for the students I’ll be a TA for next year; I couldn’t think of a reason as to why I shouldn’t share this with other people as well)

That aside, I would like to offer a resource to students who are planning to take the AP Music Theory exam. After reading/hearing some testimonials about the exam, I realized that acquiring good aural skills are quite difficult for many people (having perfect pitch myself, this was news to me).

Additionally, I didn’t find many easily accessible (i.e. free) resources that were of appropriate quality and available to students. So, every Monday for a semester, I’ll release a video with 14 melodies—a pair per day (sight-singing melodies come in pairs on the exam).

Note, these are usually at or above the difficulty of the melodies on the exam. I tried to simulate the real deal as much as possible.

So, I hope these can be of use to anyone who’s looking to improve his aural skills. Link to first video is below.
