AP Music Theory

Has anyone taken this test?

If so, what was the format like? I'm a bit confused as to how they will test us on aural skills and sight-singing.

Thanks

I took AP Music Theory my Sophomore year.

There is a theory part, a dictation part, and a sigt singing portion.

They want you to sing the proper distance of the notes, such as a 5th(A to E).

By the way, do you play the Saxophone? I play the alto saxophone.

Yea, tenor and alto. (I also play violin, thats why my name is the way it is...lol)

Do you have to do solfege?

My AP Music Theory teacher did not teacher us solfege, but told us to sing using numbers or la.

Most likely, my school won't have another AP Theory class until next year or a few years from now because my band director got a new position and interest in it was minimal last year. Luckily, I took it as a Sophomore.

awesome, because i feel really dumb singing solfege. haha
