<p>I want to take the test without taking the class and I'm wondering if I should do it.</p>

<p>I've been playing piano for 10+ years and I passed the Advanced Theory Test for Certificate of Merit (California Music Thingy) with a 95%. Is the Certificate of Merit theory similar to AP Music Theory?</p>

<p>Except that it doesn’t count toward college.</p>

<p>It’s a little too late to register now, but next year, you should definitely take it. Make sure you get some review books for it so you know exactly what you’re going to be tested on.</p>
