How hard is AP Music Theory (the test not the course)? I heard from someone who took it that you need perfect pitch and it's for music geniuses. (Bad news for me.) Anyone know anything? Thanks.

You don't need perfect pitch at all, but you do need good relative pitch. Can you tell the difference between a major or minor song? When you hear a melody, can you play it back without trial and error? If you can, I think that you'll do fine on the exam.

I never took it but from what Ive heard from classmates, my sister, and fellow pianists, its a very very hard exam. Ppl who r great performers, on the advanced level, have a hard time passing it, out of all the ppl that I know, the highest grade has been a 3, mostly 2's.

It's really not that bad. You can miss a lot and still get a pretty good score. I didn't finish a couple of the listening excersises, but I still got a three subscore in aural, and a four overall. If you take the class, or have an extensive piano background and study the AP book, it should be fine.
