AP National Scholar

Hello fellow CC'ers. I have a quick question. I know that you need to take like 8 AP classes and get a certain score to qualify for national ap scholar. I was wondering if it by the end of junior or by the end of senior year. By end senior year, I will be taking 13-14 AP classes and scoring around 4-5 on them. But by junior year, I only have six classes. So I was wondering if the classes must be completed by the end of junior or by the end of senior year.

It doesn’t matter, in the sense that you would get it either way. However, if by the end of your junior year you have met their requirement, you get the award at the beginning of your senior year. This obviously is beneficial for college applications. If you only get the required 8 at the end of senior year, then you will be in college by the time you are honored.

It is eight courses with scores of fours and fives (I do not remember if you have to have a 4.5 average or not). Even if you get the award in the fall of your freshman year in college, it gives you a nice award to list on your college work/internship applications that is not as dated as some other high school awards.

Thanks guys!
