My high school offers a very limited number of AP courses, and I am thinking
about taking an AP course online.
My choices would be AP Psychology (through AMDG, Aventa or Apex) or
AP Biology (through AMDG, Apex, Aventa, or Florida Virtual School).

Can anyone relate his/her experience with these online AP courses?
Which of these providers is the best?

Unfortunately, I have heard some real horror stories.

Definitely self-study psychology unless you need the GPA boost. As for bio, it’s extremely memorization intensive, so it’s another exam that you could self-study fairly easily (lots of time, but not many difficult concepts like Calc BC or something).

Haha horror stories regarding online AP courses…

My school’s seniors ruined it for the lower class men. The GC kept on receiving notices how as the semesters started to close, none of the seniors had done anything. Yet they all paid ≈$1000 + books. Then like the very last day before the semester closed, they met up and pull an all nighter and got 90s. Incredible. Yet the GC was ****ed (I go to a small school hence the can GC micromanage students).

Moral of the story: If you’re a senior, take the online course. If not, self-study, at least you won’t waste the money you paid on the course if you screw up. The important thing for both, don’t procrastinate.

almost every ap exam is easy to self study except for the language exams (except for english) mainly because you need to practice speaking the language.

I signed up for courses APES and APHG at aventa, thought they were too much work and never did them. I was self studying so… yeah.

Now doing Euro at NUVHS. I like it because I get credit (weights my UC gpa) and because it’s self paced. I ended up doing 3/4 of the semester over winter break =P. it was painful tho…

Well yea, if you have a interest for languages then it would be easy to self-study. Languages were not my strong point, personally. However, do remember, you only need one language course in college. Don’t bother taking 2-3 foreign language class. You won’t get credit for more than one passed exam generally speaking.
