AP or A -levels???

I'm in a British system school.. and i'm offered A-levels at school
I'm currently taking 4 but might drop one and take 2 AP classes instead.
I'm planning on going to Uni in the Usa, but am not 100% sure what I should do to up my chances of getting into a good Uni.

are APs considered the same level as A-levels?
and will 3 a-levels still get me into a good uni in the USA?

thanx!

Don't abandon A levels, they deliver world-class students, says Yale chief - Times Online

thank - you!:)))

A-levels (especially the Singaporean and Hong Kong versions) tend to go more in-depth in the subject than the APs. They might also be harder to do extremely well in (i.e. straight-As).

I have never seen an A-level exam, but my understanding is that they tend to go to approximately the level of a college 2nd year class vis-a-vis an AP's 1st year.
