AP or IB?

I am an entering freshman and i was recently accpeted at Paxon School for advanced studies which is usually in the top 10 HS in America. I was accepted as part of the IB program. I did this program for two reasons. 1) i thought it would give me college credits and reduce college cost and 2) i would more likely be accpeted.(equivelent to college ED)

From what i have read on hear lately, most colleges examine your HS GPA more than anything and that IB could hurt you in this area. Since IB has a more strenuous workload it may be benficial to some extent, but it may more difficult than i believe and dampen my GPA and hope of getting into an Ivy League college such as Harvard, Pton, or Yale.

I have heard tha AP is much easier, you get college credits, and you have a much easier workload. I heard the exams and overall program is easier than IB and taking AP will boost your GPA more than if you took IB.

I was wondering what you advise me to do. I mean i like the whole IB program and everything encompassed in it, but i dont want the workload to dampen my GPA and end my hope to attend an Ivy League college.

So stay IB, or go into AP?

If you enjoy being challenged and believe you have the will and the smarts to do well in IB, I say go for it. It will definitely prepare you for college where you have to juggle a lot of classes and complete big papers and internal assessments.

But if you feel like you're a borderline student and couldn't handle the IB program at your school without constantly getting lower than A's, then you should probably go for the AP.

To each his own, at this point it's really more of a strategic move.

This is my course load next year(freshman):
Biology Honors-Plan on all A's
World History Honors-Plan on all A's; Maybe 1 B
Spanish 1-Plan on All A's
English-Plan on all B's; Maybe one A
Geometry-Plan on all B's; Maybe one A

I just dont want my GPA to decrease becasue of course work, but i do want to be challenged for college. I mean both are beneficial and both have pros and cons. But i need some more advide is possible

AP is NOT easier than IB if you have the same courseload. However, with AP, you can slack off and take fewer APs, which you can't do if you want the diploma in IB.

more advide?
