friend was asking me for advice he other day and I couldn't ive him an answer...
okay, so he took an AP (I forgot whcih one, spanish or something) his freshman year and got a 4 because he didn't study. so now that he's a sophomore he knows he can score a 800 on his SATII but isn't sure which one would impress more and if he were to get an 800 if h should put it both on his college app or not.
so yea - the dilemma

Of course a perfect score on anything looks better than a not-perfect score on something else.

Go for the SAT II - although ... I find it a little humorous that he "knows" he can score an 800.

But if he can do it, why not try?

Many selective colleges require or strongly suggest that applicants send three SAT II scores directly from College Board. So your friend should take the SAT subject test and send the score.

lavenderdream - he said the writing part is what screwed him so he knows he will get a perfect on the SAT II french...I think that's one of the reasons I was hesistant to tell him because I ddidn't know if a freshman score of 4 would be better than a 800 score sophomore year and knowing that the AP test is more challenging han the SAT II because the SAT II one doesn't have a writing part...

elizabeth - so is he supposed to write both on his app then?

While the AP test is more challenging in content, though, I would argue that the curve is usually harsher on the SAT IIs, making it more difficult to get a perfect 800 on the SAT II.

very true, 4 mistakes and you're to a 790 i believe...
