AP Phys B Need help

1) I am debating whether I use Torricelli's Theorem or Bernoulli's equation when tackling the final speed problems. The pro for Torricelli's is that I could do it in a time-efficient way but my teacher tells me that I can earn more points by deriving the Torricelli's Theorem from Bernoulli's. Which way should I go about solving these prob's?

2) For the flow rate symbol, can I use dV/dt instead of the weird V that CollegeBoard uses in their scoring guidelines?

Thanks a bunch :)

1) I’ve seen the scoring guidelines; Torricelli’s Theorem and Bernoulli’s Equation yield the same # of points (they’re divided differently based on which way you solve it). What exactly is Torricelli’s Theorem?

2) I would guess that you can use dV/dt. What symbol are you talking about, though? Also, you could consider just writing out “Volume Flow Rate” or “VFR,” if you define clearly that VFR is the same as Volume Flow Rate.
