Hi, I was wondering which class I should take for physics. I am a junior. In terms of rigor, which is better in these scenarios?:

1) AP Physics 1 and 2 or IB Physics SL (2 yr)

2) AP Physics C (both) or IB Physics HL (2 yr)

I am pretty familiar with the AP Physics rigor and how they stack up to each other, but if anyone could inform me of how IB Physics SL and HL stack up to the AP's in terms of material covered, and rigor, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

What you can take depends mostly on what level of Math you are doing now.

Physics C requires you to be doing Calculus AB/BC at the same time or completed it already while Physics 1 and 2 need you to be at the precalculus level during the year.

AP Physics 1 overview says: “Students should have completed geometry and be concurrently taking Algebra II or an equivalent course. Although the Physics 1 course includes basic use of trigonometric functions, this understanding can be gained either in the concurrent math course or in the AP Physics 1 course itself.”

AP Physics 2 overview says: “Students should have taken or be concurrently taking precalculus or an equivalent course.”
