***AP Physics 1 Thread 2014-2015***

I got a B last semester and I have an A this semester but I’m bummed for the exam. Thank god they don’t count in admissions

Storing notes isn’t going to help get a good score. This exam is difficult enough that you will bomb it if you don’t understand the material. Whether it is cheating or not, it is NOT going to be that useful, especially with time constraints.

@AlphaDragon I stated this about the time constraint in a previous post. I’m mainly using my calculator for the equations that we don’t get on our formula sheet and the interpretation of them also for material that I can’t really remember by Wednesday. Obviously it’s impossible to look through your calculator for one sentence for one question and that isn’t what I’m planning on doing but who knows it may be helpful?

Yeah, I put formulas and derivatives in my calculator, that’s all. This test though, i’ve seen the very limited practice test problems they offered on the AP website and I’ve got to say, they are insane if they want us to think at that level, especially since AP Physics I is my first physics class. I have really low hopes for this trashy test, i’ll be honest. I’ve tried hard all year, got about a B+ due to a nice curve the teacher gives which is based off previous exams, but still I feel I am not ready for that kind of thinking.

Even the Princeton REview’s premature AP PHysics I book is not helpful as it’s based off the AP Physics B exam more-so. I love physics, I love the theories behind it, but I’m feeling this test is going to be absolute trash and my year of studying this stuff has not really done much besides a few knee-deep thinking, and not an engorged-deep thinking that the CollegeBoard wants us to think. I’m pretty aggravated at that. Whats more is that they want us to think more conceptually rather than numerically, which I honestly find numerically thinking to be what I understand more.

Oh well. :-w

@kpv195 Same with the class struggles. I feel extremely underprepared despite studying my butt off all year and still maintaining a B up until now. Praying for a 3 just to say I passed because cornell only takes 5’s.

Guys think about it like this, we are the students motivated enough to come on to CC, we are the top students of our schools and no one on here is confident, if we can’t do it, it really doesn’t look good for everyone else…

Pretty much the reality of it…

Do any of your guys’ teachers still assign homework during AP testing? A few of mine still are even though half our class will be gone at almost any given day during this week.

@AlphaDragon my only non ap class is pre calc, and teacher is giving a test this week even though everyone in the class is an ap student -_-

How are you all studying for physics in the last one and a half days?

@AlphaDragon Quizzes in apush even though the exam is friday ._. All of the seniors leave tomorrow so the homework receive after the ap exam is optional for extra credit to boost our grades.

Yoda its called cramming, what kind of ap student studies early?

Cramming actually works well for me…although I probably shouldn’t do it in the future

@Gatortristan @Mathman97 You know what the funny part of this test is? People who are taking AP Calc BC, have legitly said that AP Calc BC is EASIER than AP PHysics I. That’s just saying something man.

The sad part is that I love physics and how it puts math into perspective of life, but this test man…it’s not ideal at all.

I bombed the MC hard and the Sample Questions they released online are way too complicated. My teacher didn’t even mention to us that rotational kinematics can be used in the Conservation of Energy formula (Sample 3) and tons of other nitpicky (well actually huge) concepts that this exam is testing on. I am prepared for a 1/2, but hoping for a 3.

@kylet800 Which sample problems did you look at?

@kpv195 im assuming these https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/ap/sample-questions-ap-physics-1-and-ap-physics-2-exams.pdf

Anyone else think the paragraph-length response is the hardest FRQ on the free response section?

@AlphaDragon Yes. It’s probably not the conceptually hardest, but the hardest to score points on.

Alright, just did the questions from the released test. They’re comparable to the sample questions, but a bit easier imo.
