***AP Physics 1 Thread 2014-2015***

@Ynotgo Yes, I’d be very interested to see that data.

32.8% of Physics B students got 4s or 5s. Let’s assume 96,000 took the Physics B exam. Not unreasonable given the increases in recent years. In fact, its probably higher. I got this info from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AP_Physics_B . With that assumption, 31,488 people got 4s or 5s. This year, double that, 192,000 took it. The percent of 4s and 5s this year is 16.9% so 16.9% of that is 32,448. Basically, it makes sense for the percentages to be like that but that means most of the 96,000 additional Physics students that were not projected to take an AP Physics got 3s, 2s, or 1s. Another way to look at it is that the percentage of 5s for Physics B was 14.3% and it was 18.5% but since the population doubled, its not abnormal for those percentages to halve. It would be 7.2% for 5s and 9.3% for 4s which isn’t TOO far off what it actually was.

For the 2014 AP Physics B test, here are the number of test takers per grade level. I expect this will be significantly different for 2015 Physics 1 with much younger students taking Physics 1 overall.

“It will be interesting when they release the data this fall to see the 9th/10th/11th/12th distribution for this test.”

Where is that posted?

@apersonoutthere Google “AP Data” or “AP Report to the Nation”. The data currently there is from the 2014 tests. The 2015 data will come out in the fall sometime.

@alpha525 That doesn’t really make much sense… It only makes sense if you assume that half of the students that took AP Physics I scored a 0… Percent is 1/100 as you surely know, so just because the number of kids that took the test doubled, it doesn’t mean that the percentage should be half…

At least I don’t think.

@PilotKhyle he is assuming that each year out of all students x many are constantly prepared to pass this exam. The increase in students is therefore superfluous, thus the amount who pass stays constant. Just a train of thought.

I took this exam late… Will I still get my score tomorrow?

Let the 8 hour wait begin

@2016seniorga i don’t think so, sorry man =;

Got a 4. They posted results earlier than 8 for some reason.

Got a 3…seeing the score distribution it’s okay but I wish I’d gotten a 4 :frowning:

@aao1997 That’s correct.
@PilotKhyle I made a LOT of assumptions. It’s better than nothing really.

damn, got a 4, only AP I didn’t get a 5 on

Guess I bombed the mc, got a 3

Considering my teacher made a flipped classroom do all the work instead of teaching, ill gladly take a 3

Got a 5!!! Pleasantly surprised!

Got a 4. I was just praying i wouldn’t fail.

Got a 3… can’t use the credit :-/

Got a 5. :slight_smile:
