First week of school… and already struggling in AP Physics. Anyone else feel the same way?
I heard aplusphysics is a useful site?
I’m a rising sophomore, and am taking AP Physics 1 as well. It is a really difficult class. I don’t use any websites, maybe because I don’t have time, but I found Mr.Marek’s youtube channel very helpful. It has a APP2 as well, so you would need to differentiate between the two. What are you learning atm?
I am learning acceleration and velocity, so simple topics. But I do not like my teachers mechanism of teaching, so I am already struggling. We are going over both problem solving and graphing. Hopefully there is a good teacher on youtube, because my actual teacher doesn’t seem to be helping me out.
Does anyone know any good prep books for AP Physics 1?
@CrucioWand 5 steps to a 5 it’s apperently then barrons
Could I self study for the AP Exam if I’m taking regular Physics 1? (Honors Physics 1 or AP Physics 1 isn’t offered as a class in my school but my counselor is telling me that the regular Physics 1 we have is pretty similar in topics to AP)
It depends, will your physics class get through all the subjects and have the same level of difficulty on tests/labs and conceptual understanding of the concepts as AP? If not, it’ll be hard but use past AP tests to test yourself and use khan academy and other resources to supplement your learning.
I took AP physics 1 and 2 last year and got both 5s. My teacher was ok in providing good resources but I think he was subpar in his lectures. However, I did a decent job self studying these power points and homeworks he gave us and I used khan academy as my main outside resource which really helped conceptually for physics. The most helpful thing my teacher did was have 1 full month+ for review where we just took actual AP tests and went over them class. If you can do this, I really suggest it. I was in the 4/5 range the whole time but this helped me get a 5.
How much time does self-studying AP physics 1 take up? I want to do it but I’m afraid it’ll take away time needed for my actual classes.
Anyone know if Princeton Review’s 2017 edition (for AP physics 1) different from 2018 edition. Thinking of buying and price diff is large - also tips on studyplan (text book followed by guide followed by tests or some other way). thanks.
@hs2020kid The exam probably hasn’t changed (at least I’m pretty sure it hasn’t). Doesn’t seem worth it to get the 2018 edition honestly.
WHO’S READY LOL
oh my god it’s tomorrow
oh my god oh my god
good luck everyone btw!! may the FORCE be with y’all
took a BIG L on the exam and bs my whole way through FRQ L-)
Oh god I feel like I failed the FRQ so badly. I was hoping for a 5 but now its up in the air.
What kind of fudgery was that free response lol, just give me that 3 baby I’m going to kill myself.
I feel you sm! The FRQ was extremely hard with the form I got, probably a lot harder than all the past FRQ problems I have done.
I was ok in physics throughout the year, since I would get Ds on one quiz, and then an A+ on the next. Right now, I need a 100 in Q4 and on the final for a 92.6, and we’re still technically learning because I’m taking a UConn ECE course (thermodynamics and fluid mechanics are added).
I found the AP exam’s multiple choice pretty easy (probably 35+ points on that). I bombed the second FRQ (conductive dough) and probably got 0 points for that one, but I did pretty good on the remaining ones. So hopefully, I got a 4 or 5 on the exam.
