I'm going to be a sophomore next year. I'm a strong math student with all A's in Algebra 2 honors. I'll be taking precalc honors, as well as AP chemistry next year. I however still have an open spot on my schedule. Should I take Ap Physics 1 next year without honors physics? Also, how should I convince my science teacher of letting me take the Ap class? The physics teacher wants me to talk to my current chemistry teacher for recommendation.

I’m not sure about your school, but in my school, alot of people are taking AP Physics I next year with out taking Honors (coming from Chem Honors like you). Also they’re coming from the AlgII too and the ones I’ve talked to are good at math. (I’m in the same situation as you in all those areas except I’m taking AP Calc next year concurrent w/ Physics I, but thats only b/c I was in PreCal last year).

Since AP Physics I is a half year college course unlike B (1 is the first semester of B), I wouldn’t expect it to be of the same rigor as B and maybe even comparable to an Honors course (maybe you could mention something along the lines of this to you chem teacher)
