I’m planning on taking it next year, but I have mix feelings about it. I’m more worried about the math portion. Next year, I will be taking trigonometry. I’m afraid that physics will require a lot of calculus. (I haven’t taken calc yet, but I have the option to take trig/honors pre-calc next year) Is that true? Thoughts?
AP Physics 1/2 are Algebra-based. If you’re currently taking an Algebra class, and are taking trigonometry, I’d say you’re on the right track. Don’t worry about it too much.
Calculus comes into place when/if you take either of the AP Physics C classes.
I am currently taking AP Physics I. I would say, just make sure you learn trig very well over the summer and learn about the unit circle/ radians. Or else, knowing basic math is enough. (Calc is not necessary, the only high school course for physics that requires calc is AP Physics C)
