***AP Physics 2 Thread 2015-2016***

I’m a current senior taking AP Physics 2 and couldn’t find a thread for AP Physics 2. Anyways, are there any more taking AP Physics 2? We should use this thread to discuss, do study material discussions, etc.

I am currently enrolled in AP Physics 2 as well. I’m also a senior.

@VenomRelativity What topic are you all on? We’re starting RC circuits.

Hey there tuning in now. Im self studying and have finished physics 12 already. Pretty much i just have to learn fluids, which is pretty easy. My question is: what can you expect on the written section??? Like is there certain questions that regularly come up?? I dont have a teacher so i dont knoww

@kentonpalmer I’d say everything is fair game. From electrostatics to thermodynamics. They could really throw anything in there. Also, since it is a fairly new exam, there aren’t any trends yet.

How’s everyone doing in the class so far? Any tips on how to prepare for the AP exam? I’m thinking of buying AP Physics 2 prep books on Amazon, but can anyone tell me which book is better?

Took AP Physics 1 last year. The class was alright, but my teach did not prep me enough for the exam. He was using Physics B prepartions.

I’m currently a junior taking AP physics 1 but I find it so easy, and I want to be a physicist when I grow up so I want to learn as much physics now as possible. I was thinking of self studying AP physics 2 using edX and the Princeton review book during this upcoming semester and taking both AP exams in May. Is this a completely horrible psycho idea? I got a 5 on AP chem last year and I was basically self studying if that helps.

@coffeeaddicted I found first semester of AP Physics 1 (and most of second semester) to be so easy I didn’t actually study for the practice exams and made straight 5s, but when it got to electricity it all changed. I had an awful time with AP Physics 1 electricity compared to all of the other topics, which I believed were laughably easy. So, if you happen to be anything like me, yes it is completely insane to try to self-study. I think AP Physics 2 makes AP Physics 1 seem like a joke AP.

But who knows. Some people actually had a hard time with mechanics but a really easy time with electricity, magnetism, optics, thermo, etc.

@XoXdreamerXoX ok thanks, this helps. I think I’ll just try learning some of the physics 2 info (I’m going to quickly finish the physics 1 material soon) and by the time I have to let my teacher know I’ll decide based off what I’ve learned.

@XoXdreamerXoX Can I ask resources you used to study for AP Physics 1 test?

@robotseatcookies I didn’t have any resources besides my physics teacher.

I’m actually thinking of doing the same thing! I’m currently in the edX course for AP physics 2 as well. Have you decided if you’re doing the AP physics 2 exam yet?

How many of you are taking AP Physics 1 also at the same time?

How was the AP Physics 2 exam guys. I thought it was easier than expected. No physics 1 concepts appeared (only gravitation) and the frq were all idea-based. I took the international version so I think it might be different than those you take in America.

So how was it?

The exam wasn’t hard.

They released the FRQs I am in America and I didn’t have any of those FRQs.

I’m in the U.S. and those were my exact questions.

@XoXdreamerXoX thats absolutely ridiculous that I got different questions then.
