AP Physics B or AP Calculus BC?

Hi! I am a HS Sophomore and I am nervous about my program for next year. I was planning on taking AP Calc BC junior year and taking AP Physics B senior year, but I found out that AP Physics B is being discontinued and is being replaced by a two year algebra based course. If I don't take AP Physics B next year I will never be able to, but the only way I could fit the class in is if I take AP Statistics and drop my lunch period. My school does not offer AP Physics C. Any advice would be appreciated!

You should have the “Holy Trinity” of scienes, Physics, Bio and Chem, as a general rule. That you can take BC Calc in senior year, go ahead and take the Physics now. I don’t remember off hand which Physic requires calc when taking it. Make sure you don’t go over your head if the Physics B is that one. Or take a regular full year physics course non AP. Be aware that BC Calcu is no easy course and breaks many a GPA. I think I would recommend it for Senior year for that reason, too.

take physics b and stats next year, BC sr year and you’ll still be able I finish all the math classes.

Thanks for your advice. Have any of you ever dropped your lunch period?

^I never have, and I’m glad. At my school you also have to take gym through all four years.

Oh, and Physics C is the one with calculus. Even it isn’t THAT hard. You’ll be fine in B.
