AP physics B

well
is it really that hard?
everyone in my school says it is the hardest class
i had 100 average for pre ap chemistry (honors chemistry) and all my math classes so far
so im just wondering if ap physics B is hard or not

Like you, I made a 99 or 100 average (without the honors points added in), but when it came to physics, I completely had no clue whatsoever. Math for Physics B-- you only need basic algebra and some trig anyway.

"Everyone" does not lie!

oh..
dang..

don't let perception ruin your experience in physics

i took it just this year, and i heard a lot about how 'tough' it was and how it was really hard. especially since i'm a sophomore (its normally a class for juniors), everyone said i would fail.

i didn't let that get to me, but i know students who entered the class with intense fear, and if they didn't understand a concept, they just gave up and blamed it on the 'difficulty' of the class

don't fall victim!

I posted above... just want to clarify, I had a 98 in that class. We had a tremendous curve. Without it, my grade would probably be around 70 or so. Your teacher would likely curve the grades too if he grades hard/ everyone barely passes.

yeah
i remember some ppl saying there is like 50 point curve in every test
i think?

i had 100 average in Honors chemistry and AP chemistry, without any Honors/AP extra points added. i found physics B very hard. the AP exam passing rate at my school is very low. only one person got a 5 in the past couple years. most people got 1s.

I took AP Physics B this year. I had a terrible teacher and everyone in the class somewhat struggled to do well on tests throughout the year. I managed to get the gist of every subject required and got a 5 on the AP test, but I was somewhat surprised with my score and wouldn't be too surprised if there weren't many people in my class that also got a 5.

If you study enough, you can easily get a passing grade on the AP test, especially if your teacher knows what they're doing.

I took it as a junior, and it was probably the hardest ap i took in high school (i've also taken apush, bio, calc, macro, gov, and spanish). The workload was a lot less than most of my other ap's, but the concepts were kind of difficult and the tests were really hard. My class had a major curve though (at one point, i think like a 75% was an A). I managed to keep an A throughout the class, and ended up with a 4 on the ap test (which I was really happy with).

AP Physics B was the only class that I have taken so far that I have gotten a B in. That being said, it was also by FAR the hardest class I took last year. (I was a sophomore) If the word conceptual doesn't scare you right now, it will before the end of the year, roughly around the 2nd-3rd month in. Physics is unlike any other science class, the bulk of which are straight up memorization. Words to describe Physics B, memorization, application, manipulation, conceptual.

However, I somehow, MIRACULOUSLY got a 5 on the AP. I owned the multiple choice, but I was (in my opinion) destroyed on the free response. I would be very afraid if they did random checks on graded AP's because THAT is how shocked I am that I got a 5.

Be afraid, be very afraid.
