AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, or Both?

Hi! I am trying to decide on my courses for senior year and I would appreciate some opinions. I am very into sciences and my goal was to do all of the AP Sciences. I have found AP Physics B quite hard this year, but not impossible. I am not sure whether I should take AP Physics C next year or AP Computer Science or both. Which one has a better curriculum and is more useful? Also, do colleges seem to have a preference? Keep in mind that my dream school is Stanford where the top major is Computer Science. Thank you in advance!

What do you want to major in? Are you taking these classes only for colleges, or for yourself?

@Kawaiiii‌ - I definitely want to major in science. I am really interested in environmental science and chemistry. I am also considering environmental engineering. I am taking the classes primarily for myself. I think both offer different crucial skills for the fields I am interested in. I was just curious about what colleges think because they seem equal in my eyes.

What makes them equal in your eyes? AP Computer Science would probably be a lot easier than AP Physics C, especially if you haven’t taken AP Calculus AB/BC.

@DMAzai‌

As long as @apesrocks‌ is taking at least AP Calc AB concurrently, s/he should be fine for AP Physics C

^ AP Physics C is Calculus-Based so…

I would say both if you want a better chance, recommended AP courses for Computer Science are; Calculus BC, Chemistry, Computer Science A, Physics 1/2 (B) OR AP Physics C, & Statistics.

Hopefully you took the majority of them, if you haven’t taken Calculus or if you are not going to take it concurrently with Physics C, I do not recommend to take it. Otherwise if you want a better chance, go for it.

If it comes down to scheduling problems, if Computer Science is your intended major for sure, go with AP Computer Science, if not I would go for AP Physics C since it is one of the, if not, the most impressive AP you can take, that is if you have potential in Calculus.

Why do you think I said concurrently?

Straight off of the collegeboard website, I believe

Yeah I forgot to put credits from College Board xD. 2 people saying the same thing is better than 1 person saying it.

@elefish92‌

Not if it’s wrong

I will be in AP Calculus BC next year. What I meant by equal is I think they both offer good skills.
