Quick question: At your high school [if it offers AP Physics C], does it offer one of the courses (either mechanics OR electricity and magnetism), or does it offer BOTH courses in one academic year?

My school has never offered C before, and is converting from B to C for the 05-06 school year. The teacher wants to teach both courses in one year.

Yeah our school teaches both in one year. The normal physics class(honors is norm) taught to the B exam, although you had to take exam on your own if you wanted to.

For the C class, the students complained a lot about failing the AP, but then most of them received double 5's. The AP Physics teacher at our school is very demanding and teaches at a higher level than C, so I think the students found the exam easy. I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to learn the material, but be prepared to work!

I think most of the time both parts of C are taught in the whole year. The old AP award system even designated each part of AP Physics C as a "half-credit exam". My school taught Mechanics first semester and E&M second semester. It's hard work, but it's definately do-able.

I think mechanics is the easier section by far anyway. Our school just has a yearlong class called "AP Physics C." The teacher basically teaches what he wants. In years past, he taught only mechanics and none of his students took E&M, but this year he sort of split it up into a semester for each subject (although some students only took the mechanics test based on their class grade, etc.) To be honest, he didn't really teach to the test at all. He taught way above that level and never really covered concepts or anything, but I just read through an AP review book for all the E&M and did some practice problems and got a 5 on both sections. The curve is generous.

this bring me 2 a question, do u guys like teachers that do their own thing or teaches for the test, last year we had a crazy physics teacher that tought about string theory and quantum theory (graduate level stuff) i was really interested in what he taught but i had concerns if he teached what was important,

I wish i could have a class like that. My school only has honors-level intro physics. Some students do take the C test, but they have to pretty much teach it all to themselves. I am thinking about doing this for next year.
