I am currently enrolled in my school's first-ever AP Physics C class, and it's been a serious struggle. I'm not sure whether I should take the mechanics AP test (my class doesn't cover E&M). I've heard somewhere that I only have to get 50% of the questions right to get a 3, though. Is the test as hard as people make it seem, or is there a silver lining? Anyone who has had it before want to offer any advice?

It is EASILY the hardest AP class. All of the AP Physics, although, Physics B is the easiest, but still not super easy. The class I’m in right now is Mechanics and it’s kinda rough. I would say look at the course description on the AP Central website, and scroll down to the very bottom and try the sample questions and see how well you do. Then judge how much effort you want to put into the class. <a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board; (Questions start on Page 62)

Thanks Bryce! I agree, mechanics is pretty rough. I can’t imagine taking both mechanics AND e&m in one year…

Here’s hoping the AP test doesn’t slaughter me!

Good luck!

Not relevant to the AP test, but in college Mechanics is typically a semester long course (actually the probably cover a bit more than what is covered in AP mechanics). The same is true for E&M.
