I’ve heard of people self-studying for e+m while concurrently taking mechanics. How difficult is this if anybody has any experience with this?
@Kyuutoryuu I think I got those too.
did anyone who took the Physics c Mech make up exam wanna share answers with me? (FRQ)
@tagi1998 From personal experience, E&M is not as big a monster as it might seem (if you’re flipping through review books). I’ve self-studied Electricity and Magnetism on a basic level for the Subject Test in Physics, and I can get 20-25 points on released FRQs for AP Physics C: E&M. (That is good for a score of 4).
So, apparently self-studying E&M is very possible.
@Kyuutoryuu ah alright thanks. I probably need more than a prep book to study e+m right? Would I need a textbook?
Does anyone have a google doc for physics C mechanics FRQ?
@tagi1998 I don’t think you would need a textbook. If you combine Barron’s and Princeton Review, that’s more than enough information you’d need for the AP Exam, and more than enough practice problems/tests. Then, you can also watch videos such as those on MIT opencourseware, Khan Academy, or lasseviren1. But a textbook is always good to have I suppose.
i think you should get a textbook, because its important to practice a lot, more then just a few ap tests. Just regular practice problems.
I think I put -gsintheta for acceleration. This means that my sign conventions were off throughout the whole question. Will the graders read with me or just not give any points???
@ChemDude123 Minus one point for wrong signs. If you followed your own sign conventions correctly, all other points will be awarded (assuming correct answers as well).
Self-studying for this test for 2016. I’m in IB Physics (first year of HL nearly done) and my teacher went over the basics of mechanics and E&M. All that’s left are some new subtopics and applying calculus. How hard is this class, compared to AP Calc BC (took that one this year), or even with respect to all the other AP’s? What’s the best prep book?

6 students worldwide, out of 52,000, earned all 90 points possible on this year’s AP Physics C: Mechanics exam.
Many AP Physics C: Mech students struggled with Q1 and esp Q3 (rotation), where >15% of students earned 0/15 pts. AP Physics C: Mech students did great work on Q2 (Momentum/Energy/Kinematics); 3,400 of them earned 15/15 pts on it:

Wow! Kind of a question toward those who took the Mechanics exam during the regular offering. Did anyone else run out of time during the MC? Also, was it just me, or was the MC this year around the same difficulty as the released 1973 exam (thought to be the hardest released exam)
I was pretty crunched for time but not too much more than in practice exams I took and yes, found it to be at least as hard as any practice exam I took.
The MC killed me. So did the free response. I think i got around 50-60% on that exam. I hope that’s good enough for a 4 or a 5.
I PASSED
@imthereal how do you know your scores already? Aren’t the first scores released Monday?
Colleges get the scores way before us (College Board sent my college the scores on June 25th). The colleges then post them to their respective portals. I saw my scores on my unofficial transcript for my college.
What did you get on the mechanics and e and m
yeah if you’re a senior, you can access them through your college portal. got a 5 and I’m so excited.
