i want to go to a good engineering college. i have ap calc ab next year (senior) and was hoping to take ap physics c with it, but my school doesn’t offer it. what would be the best option: taking ap physics c online/ self studying, taking ap physics 1, or taking regular physics?
If you have not taken regular physics, I would not suggest even attempting AP Physics C; take AP Physics 1.
thank you. so i could take ap physics 1 without prior physics knowledge? i mean i know some from pltw
Yeah, you don’t need any prior physics knowledge for ap physics 1. I’m taking it right now and I haven’t learned any physics before. It’s pretty hard for me, but I think you would be good at it. AP Physics 1 is algebra based and covers mechanics, dynamics, gravitation, circuts(?), etc. You should look at the different areas that C covers and what AP P1 covers and see which one suits you the best
Either AP physics 1 or Honors Physics.
You shouldn’t take AP physics C without a first level in physics (it’s the second level in the sequence, sort of - think of taking Russian 2 without having had Russian 1, for example… When the teacher starts talking in Russian, the rest of the class follows, whereas you have no clue what is being said. Then you have some exercises on the board and you can’t even make sense of the question…)
