I am currently taking AP Physics C at my school, but my class only covers the mechanical portion of the course, and therefore we are only prepared to take the AP Physics mech exam. How difficult would it be to self study for the electricity and magnetism portion of the AP exam?

I’m self-studying both sections of the Physics C exam and I don’t think E&M is that bad. Just make sure you know your Calculus well and practice a lot.

If you’re only in AB Calc or equivalent, some of the math stuff could be difficult/you might need to wait until you cover certain topics in your math class. If you’re good with the calculus, I would think it’s certainly doable. Have you had any physics before? A conceptual understanding of E/M would help, but isn’t absolutely necessary.

Agreed. E&M can get tricky sometimes. Other than that, it’s totally fine.

Yeah I totally agree that E&M can be tricky with all that calculus, in fact it covers more calc than Mech. But does your mech. textbook cover E&M too? I’d suggest you make a topic correlation with the Physics C description (can be found on apcentral) and your textbook to see which chapters you’ll need to study. Make sure to read the text thoroughly and do the previously released exams, I’m sure you’ll do fine. G’luck.
