AP Physics C without Calc

Currently I am in my junior year and am taking AP Physics C. There are only four juniors in the class and there are about 40 students, the rest being seniors. Although I am only in Honors Pre-Calc, I'm really good at math and have gotten the top grade on two out of the five tests this year.
I'm doing well mostly because I learned derivatives and integrals on my own, which definitely helped. I got screwed over by my high school because they wouldn't let me skip a math class, even though I've been awarded the top grade in Geometry and Alg2/Trig Acc. in a school that has 3000 students.
Since I have done so well this year in this class even though I am behind in math and took it despite people claiming "I couldn't handle the work," I think I've proved that I can do this class.

My question is, will colleges see this as a bonus on my app next year? Also, I'm applying to summer programs like the ones at Harvard and Brown and plan to get credit for Calculus there.

Thanks for any help!

AP Physics C is based on calculus. You really need a strong understanding of the math to hope to do well. Fight to get into a calculus class or learn calculus - especially integral calculus - on your own. Things will get very messy in E&M when you have to find the fields of three-dimensional shapes via integration.

^ I think you didn’t read allii’s post at all…

but thats cool.

That should look good for colleges as long as you mention it.

Get a rec from either your math or physics teacher and remind him/her of that so that s/he will be sure to mention it. Or bring it up somewhere else in the app.

Thanks for the advice!
