Hey guys, I'm signed up for AP Physics C next year. How difficult of a class is it compared to B? I took B last year and did pretty wlll and made A's in it but I'm sort of worried about C. How different are the two classes and will taking B give me an advantage in C? Thanks for any responses...

All three exams are challenging, but in different ways. The way my physics teacher always explained it was that AP Physics B covers a lot of different disciplines in physics with medium depth, while each AP Physics C exam covers a (comparatively) smaller amount of material with far greater depth.

Taking any physics class, B included, before taking on either AP Physics C class will give you an advantage, perhaps more so than taking Calculus before AP Physics C. If you are taking AP Calculus next year, you may need to learn basic differentiation and integration for mechanics before Calculus covers those topics, and the proofs for E & M will demand slightly more challenging integration (but you could just memorize until you learn chain rule integration).

I don’t know if you’re taking just one or both AP Physics C exams, but knowing any physics going in will make the concepts easier to tackle the second time. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I’m taking calculus next year so I’ll probably just go to my teacher for questions. The APC class at my school only covers mechanics but I think I may self study for E&M too.
