AP Physics C

On the College of Engineering Advising pdf, it lists that you can use a 5 on Physics C Mechanics to skip a lower-division physics course. Does this mean it is useless to take Physics C Electricity and Magnetism? Also, what if you took calculus and math classes at UCI? Do you get credit for those/skip out of courses?

yah i am curious as well. I want to know if its a good idea to skip the first semester of engineering physics and start physics 7b.

it doesnt mean its useless, since youre eventually have to take it and its better to know the material than not

a ton of students skip 7a and start with 7b/h7b

Another issue to consider is that Berkeley's first semester physics class (Newtonian mechanics or the like) is probably a much deeper course than the AP physics mechanics test, so it might be worth it to take the mechanics class anyway in preparation for upper division engineering and physics classes.

Are there any Berkeley students around who can speak to this?

that's not true

the coe is strict about what gets ap credit and what doesnt. also, 7a uses the same book and has the same material most people use in high school (physics by giancoli). there is no 'special material' that one would learn in 7a if that person has a 5 in mechanics already
