My chem teacher convinced me to take AP Physics next year, but I’m a little scared it’ll be too much work. I’m also taking classes such as Biology, Honors Pre Calculus, AP US History, and AP French and like to be involved in after school activities such as Model UN, Oratoria (Forensics in Spanish), and Community Service Club. I took the Physics SAT II in October and got a 620, which according to my Physics teacher is very good considering I took the test months after completing a freshman Physics course. Do you guys think I can handle it?

AP Physics B or AP Physics C?

If it’s Physics C, I wouldn’t recommend unless your math teacher can give you basic calculus knowledge. If it’s Physics B, I would say to go for it. If you have some Physics knowledge (which you obviously do, with your SAT II score), Physics B shouldn’t pose too large a problem for you.

I’m taking Physics B, so I’m hoping that what we cover in Honors Algebra 2 provides a good math basis.

Even though Precalculus is recommended to take AP Physics B, you would do fine in that class. The only math concept left that you should know is Trigonometry and you can learn that over the summer. Considering that you’re going to take two other AP classes, you would do fine.
