AP Physics UC Scout

Hi! I plan to take this class online and well as E&M. Do you happen to remember the weighting of the class (final, midterm, homework, labs, etc.), how hard the class was overall for an A, and how much time I need for this class?

@jardondaful Here’s what the syllabus says for Mechanics as of 2019: midterm and final together are worth 50%; midterm and final are timed and proctored. There are 13 sections/units and each consists of “a series of lessons to watch, problem sets, quizzes, tests and labs.” I do not see a delineation of how the other 50% of the grade is determined.

I think how hard you will find the course will be determined by a number of factors: have you taken an intro physics class or AP Physics 1/2? Have you taken other AP science courses? Are you concurrently or have taken AP Calc AB/BC? My kid took this course without having had a basic physics course but having had AB, and being concurrently enrolled in BC. It was their first AP science course. They had to work for their grade. They spent many many hours on this class (many more than the AP Bio course they are currently enrolled in), but each and every concept was new to them. However, as mentioned earlier, the great thing is that the teacher is super wonderful and responsive.

@helloworldly How was AP Physics 1 through UC Scout? How much time/week did it require over the summer and was it relatively easy to get an A if you do the homework, watch the videos, etc., - in other words, is it a fair A, or a very difficult to get an A. TIA
