I'm trying to figure out which to take senior year. Which class do you think is more valuable and why?

Physics! So you can go around screaming “Inertia!” and other phrases that the common population doesn’t understand.

@Niquii
I would hope that the common population knows what inertia is…

You’d be surprised.

Physics, because it’s more problem solving and critical thinking.
Bio is just memorization.

Aww, it’s cute that you think the common population knows physics.

The new bio curriculum does involve more critical thinking than it used to. But physics will always involve more because of the math aspect.

AP Physics. Trust me.

AP Biology, duh~

I don’t know if it’s just me, but AP Biology is a lot of thinking and critical reading. We read tons of scientific journals and medical journals. Also, I wouldn’t pick a course just because it has more “value” than the other.

Thanks everyone!!
@Niquii77, I’m planning on doing that no matter which course I take!

Other opinions?

I had the make the choice myself. When I came down to making a selection, I thought, “Would I rather spend more time memorizing concepts or equations?”

Now, there are a lot of conceptual problems in physics, but you can understand them using the equations. I ended up picking AP physics since I’m more of a math person and intend to major in math.

It’s your call.

If physics is more math, what is bio? A combination of critical reading and memorization?

AP Biology is heavy in memorization, especially when we have to memorize the steps of cellular respiration and photosynthesis…it’s a lot…But, you do have to analyze readings and apply them to many situations. Evolution is heavy on application and reading. You have to know what you’re talking and reading about, and apply the many-concepts into other situations.

I take both right now. I find that AP Biology has more work - it’s a lot of grinding away. However, AP Physics B (I take B) takes more mind.

Physics…
