AP Physics

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to take this next year (jr. year). For those of you who have taken it, what did you think in terms of both workload and difficulty? Is it one of those APs where it's impossible to pull an A?

Only you can decide if it is possible to pull an A.... the teacher that will teach you didn't teach us so we hvae no idea if it'll be hard to pull an A! :P. Which physics are you taking? B/C?

oOo you're name is Marlowe like Christopher Marlowe the poet?

I took this year and my average was over 100. Of course, 15-point curves on all our tests definitely helped. Really it depends on your teacher - you should ask people in your school who've already taken it.

Of course, you're right, it would depend on the school. My friends who have taken it said it was an extremely difficult course, and very few kids in the grade received above a 4. I was wondering if the course in general was like that at other schools as well (esp in terms of performance on the AP exam itself)

AP Physics is not for those who can just memorize..it's for the truly smart, fast-minded, receptive people... smart boys dominate.... sometimes a girl or two but not really

i have heard that class is mighty tough.

It depends which one you're talking about. B? C - mechanics or e/m, or both?
This year I took C mechanics, which my school offers as a year long course. My teacher was new this year, but there wasn't a tremendous workload and I got an A without killing myself. I'm fairly confident I got a 5 too. If you're good at math/science and want the challenge, then go for it. Not everything's about the grade.

I took C, covered both parts although focussed way more on mechanics. Finished the year with a B+. Wasn't that bad workload wise, we had nightly homework, which if you did it correctly took about 45 minutes to an hour, if you did it just to get it checked that you did it, took 15 minutes. Some of the concepts can be tricky though, especially when tackling complicated hard super convoluted problems that are nothing like what you'll see on the exam, but those problems also make you a better person >_>.

But yeah the class was enjoyable and interesting. I'm hoping I did well enough on mechanics to skip it next year, I need a 4 which I think is around what I got. Although its possible I got a 5 but its also possible I got a 3, definitely didn't do worse than that. I'm gonna take E&M again in college next year, since even besides that I definitely didn't do well enough to skip it on the test, we kinda didn't spend nearly as much time on it and mechanics and I don't feel I have as good of an understanding of it that I do mechanics. Also I didn't much pay attention to the M half of E&M due to senioritis and the fact that we super rushed though that part.

Story of my AP Class. =( Only no girls dominated. I am a girl.
