Ap physics

Any reference books or books to study from for AP Physics B?

why would you even take such a stupid subject?

err which else would i do? i checked UIUC’s site and which proficiency tests i can do once i get there, so I can test out calculus and chemistry courses there instead of taking the APs now. both physics tests were for 2 courses each

Why do you want to do AP?

No monetary benefit, dude.

Plus wouldn’t you wanna take basic classes first so that you get acquainted with the university etc?

not about monetary benefit… why would you like to study the same things there, which you already know?

@anirudh- What are u talkin about. No monetary benefit by takin AP’s? Well there certainly is. Depending upon the university u can save upto a year’s cost of attendance if u get sufficient credits.

Can APs help in admission (not course credit) if you self-study take 'em in junior year (a year before college apps, basically)? Say, a 5 on AP Physics C and AP Calculus BC?

well i wouldn’t want to jump straight into physics 105 or something…

Where do you take AP exams in India and who are they available to? (Age wise)

AP exams can be given at any AP centers in India and everybody can give APs by doing self study. AP centers in Indiacan be found on College board site in AP section. But I know of 2 centers one in Mumbai - Cathedral and John conon school Mumbai. Mrs. Vadhava is the person incharge, 2nd center is at Ahmedabad International School at A’bad in Gujarat. You can find a center nearer to your place from coolegeboard’s official site.

APs helps in admissions, scholarships and gaining credits.

I had taken AP physics C (both mechanics and electricity and megnatism)at a’bad int school and got 5 bands in both sections. and i am taking AP calc BC and AP BIO this year at cathedral school, mumbai.

try barrons… its quite good :)

Nah. Learn the stuff properly with a real textbook, online lecture videos and stuff (like Apostol for Calculus, Resnick Halliday for Physics). Much more useful. Do some AP practice in last few weeks before the test. If you’d learnt your stuff right it should be just fine.

The idea is to actually learn something and do well in APs just as a side-effect - such that if you even end up not taking the AP exam at the end, you learn something for life anyway. If not the details, it’ll be a good experience. ;-)

Halliday is baapest for IIT physics.

For someone who is focusing on AP, do CBSE/your board text properly + the AP text.

Yes but Resnick/Halliday is so well written, and Apostol just ‘pushes’ the stuff you generally just have to memorise into you because you actually prove them with number theory from scratch.

Also do watch the Calculus videos here up until the AP exam solutions videos: [Khan Academy](http://www.khanacademy.org/)

Could you give me the link? It would be really helpful!

Link for what?

link to the site with the AP exam centres in India

I am sorry but i am unable to find the link right now. But i had emailed APexams’ authorities about the same inquiry some time back and i can forward you their reply if you give me your email id.

as it u r not going to be able to give APs this year. u will be giving them next year
