I have heard that one of the options for IB Math HL Year 2 is statistics, and that there are similarities between the course content in this class and AP Probability & Statistics. Is there truly this much of a similarity between the two classes? Also, if someone has already taken AP Probability & Statistics and the statistics option is the only option taught for IB Math HL Year 2 in one’s high school, does it mean that the student is forced not to take IB Math HL? Is there a way for the student to still take IB Math HL in this scenario if they are really passionate about mathematics?
HL covers a variety of topics including probability & statistics, but I doubt it covers as much as a dedicated course because there are so many other topics to cover.
