AP Psych vs AP US

Does it really look lazy on a transcript? I could take either psych or ap us, but I honestly have a greater interest in psychology. I'm sure Id be just as successful in ap us, but like I said earlier, I'd probably enjoy ap psych more.

What would you guys recommend?

Thanks.

I've never taken a class because it would look good, or given up the opportunity to take a class because it wouldn't look good. Don't let it influence your course selection -- that's the complete opposite of what colleges want.

No AP looks lazy..

I doubt colleges wouldn't be impressed if you take AP Psych. It's an AP so it should be rigorous. Although some might say it is one of the easier AP's I don't believe that colleges would be that nitpicky. Go with the one you enjoy which is AP Pysch.

If you have a greater intersest in Psych, by all means take that one!

Have you had AP Euro or AP World?

If you haven't taken AP world or Euro, I would take US. Honestly, you can self-study AP Psych for a few weeks and do fine on the exam.

I agree with sarmango. However, if you have a greater interest in Psych, go with that. I personally opted to take REGULAR psych (though I did take the AP test to prove that I learned something, hahah) instead of AP Gov this year.

If you're interested in Psych, go with that. I know my class covered way more material than was on the AP.

Look at the colleges that are your top choices and see if they
credit this particular AP or even acknowledge its existance
by letting you use it as a prereq.

You may come to some interesting conclusions on AP Psych. Unelss
youa re into behavioral research or a number of Psych related
activities AP Psych is goign to look like the lazier choice?

All APs are definitely not equal. This is why colleges credit them
differently.

To add to this dilemma, the AP US teacher was also my teacher for american history freshman year, a course that I was successful in, and could potentially write me a solid recommendation if I take his course this year.

And, I have taken AP Euro and unfortunately finished the year with unfavorable results, if that has any significance...

OP - re AP Euro, was it the course grade, or the AP exam, than ended unfavorably?

If AP exam, no worries. If course grade, maybe its time to reassert your ability in the area of History??

I did badly in the course, but I assure you that it wasn't because I am unable to understand history- it was genuinely an incredibly difficult class at my school. History is by no means my most successful subject, but I am sure that I am at least proficient in it and am pretty certain that I could be successful next year, whether I take ap psych or ap us

Isn't US history a graduation requirement, or no?

If not, go with what interests you - psychology.

While AP US is generally seen as more of a "core" class, while AP Psych is more of an "elective" class, they are both AP classes and would never be looked upon unfavorably. If you were interested in both equally, I would say take APUSH, but since you have a greater interest in Psych, take Psych. As I'm sure has already been said, following your interests is always the best thing to do (unless your interests lead you to taking 3 non-honors/non-AP electives and nothing else or something like that :) ). BTW, one of my good friends took AP Psych instead of an AP history course and she got into Cornell.
