AP psych

I’m going to be a junior next year and I am planning on taking AP psycology along with AP environmental science as my 2 honors/AP classes. I’ve taken honors classes before but never an AP class. From people who’ve taken them before in highschool, how rigorous are these classes? (how much homework, how hard are the tests, etc.) Also, is it a good idea to buy a prep book for the AP exam to study a few months before?

I think it honestly just depends on your teacher…I’ve heard AP Psych is mostly vocab… and of course it’s a good idea to buy a prep book for the exam.

The AP Psych exam itself is really, really easy and is extremely cursory. However, many classes go much more in-depth and the class tests can be extremely difficult. (We had a question on our test that asked about the percentage of Americans who confess a Gender Bias and the percentage of the most preferred gender amongst those who have a Bias. And it was in the Social-Psych unit which had little to do with that.)

I’d also recommend buying a Psych practice book (The Barrons is the best), and the Study Guide to the Meyers textbook. The Latter has a lot of practice questions that prepare you very well for the exam.

The big problem with the course if that you’re taught many different theories to explain the same thing. And of course they all completely contradict each other. But, luckily the actual exam is really, really easy.
