Hi everybody! I'm planning to take AP Psychology online this semester. My main question is: will taking the AP Psychology course online have a significant effect on my GPA? I have a genuine interest in Psychology, but if taking the course won't boost my GPA, I'll probably just self-study. My schedule is already full, so I don't want to spend my time doing assignments unless it will help my weighted GPA.

Also, I have a few questions for anyone who has taken AP Psych online during the school year before: Were the assignments very difficult or time-consuming? Were there weekly quizzes/tests? And what was the final exam like? How many hours did you have to spend weekly for this course? I'm taking four honors and one IB class in addition to the AP Psych course, so I'm worried that my grades will slip or I won't have enough time for extracurriculars. So any advice on time management would also be really appreciated. Thank you! :D

Your counselor would be your best bet. In most cases, an AP course would offer two quality points (at least in my state it does), while Honors courses offer one quality points. Basically, yes. If your school ranks students by weighted GPA, it will help.

Well, it wouldn’t show up on my school report card but it definitely would show up on my transcript and as a result it would impact my GPA. So basically what I’m asking is - would it have enough of an impact on my GPA to actually affect my class rank?

I asked my counselor – my school does accept the credit and it will impact my GPA. But again, what I’m asking is would it have enough of an impact on my GPA to affect my class rank?
