I am going to take AP Psych next year. I was wondering, what are the suggestions to ace that class? I heard its a lot of reading, which I found quite burdensome for APUSH this year. Do you read prep books on a regular basis to retain info better?

AP Psych shouldn’t require nearly as much reading as USH. I bought the barron’s prep book to go along with my class and it is AWESOME! Just get that and use it a few weeks before the test. I did, but my AP Psych class was easy and informative. I got an easy 5 on the exam. Just do everything that is required of you in the class and read the Barron’s prep book and you are in perfect shape… GOOD LUCK!

No. I used one of the school text books and the Barrons to self-study for AP psych. The Barrons gives you the nuts and bolts, but the text helps round out your knowledge in the subject. Study the Barrons, read through the text. I got a 5.

My class used Psychology 8th Edition by David Meyers… It was pretty good.

Basically all you need to do is read each chapter and take notes on it. Review those notes and the chapter for tests (if you’re tested on each chapter like I was, then you’re good to go). Then in the 2nd semester start reviewing the vocabulary and then take some practice exams.

Barron’s seriously has everything you need. I was one of those “read the book the night before the exam and get a five” people.

I stayed up ALL NIGHT cramming and knew enough to get a five.

Barron’s was really well written and explained the experiments really well. You seriously don’t need a textbook. And one week should be enough to learn it, though if you want to go through it in greater detail, then definitely one month is more than enough.

barrons psychology is definitely the best. it has like 95% of the info u need. i dont know how the author(attended princeton/columbia) can know the test so well; it’s definitely an amazing book.

i spent like 2 weeks on it and got a 4. i didn’t really study until like last minute, so it’s pretty easy…

oh and make sure u read the book over and over again until u know everything

I self-studied by reading the whole Princeton Review Book the night before and did 1 practice test and received a 4. I would have studied more, but I had Chem the same day and cared more about that test. Moral of the story: chill, I’m sure with a decent week of studying one can pull off a 5.
