For some reason, my DS is under the impression that his APs will count towards his GPA. I can’t imagine that being the case (and his DegreeWorks shows 0.0 gpa) but I just told him he should double check that bit of info. I was asking how his classes were going and reminding him that 3.0 was the magic number for retaining his scholarship. His response was “classes are going ok but my APs will help bring up my GPA”. Really???

Just checked DS’s transcript to be sure. AP’s do not count in their Bama GPA. They go in as P (Pass/Fail) with a GPA of 0. Classes transferred from another college do count in the GPA but not AP’s. Sorry

APs do not affect your GPA. AP credit evidence will be seen in your credit hours earned.

Out of curiosity how does Alabama treat dual enrollment credits from universities?

My D’s AP credits did not count toward GPA, but credits she took at our local community college did count.
